Lovely. I made a mistake in the primordial forest two weeks ago. Chanterelles caught my eye and I failed to note sun or slope or to take a phone (unlike me). I wandered after treats that just pushed up the loam, they drew me deep until I realized that the sounds had changed. No road noise, no wind, no birds. An awkward moment.
I would not have been surprised to see your ship.-

But still, it is a sublime moment to be in the middle of the forest.
I got lost in the Black Forest not long ago. It had something peaceful.
But you’re right. You’ll never know what you might find behind the next tree.
