I use the service Gravatar by Automattic Inc. 60 29th Street 343, San Francisco, CA 94110, USA, in my blog. Gravatar is a service where users can log in and store profile pictures and their e-mail addresses. If users leave contributions or comments with the respective e-mail address on other online presences (above all in blogs), their profile pictures can be displayed next to the contributions or comments. For this purpose, the e-mail address provided by the users is transmitted to Gravatar in encrypted form for the purpose of checking whether a profile has been saved for it. This is the sole purpose of the transmission of the e-mail address and it will not be used for other purposes, but will be deleted thereafter. The use of Gravatar is based on my legitimate interests as I offer the possibility of personalising their contributions with a profile picture with the help of Gravatar. By displaying the images, Gravatar obtains the IP address of the users, as this is necessary for communication between a browser and an online service. For more information on Gravatar’s collection and use of the data, please refer to Automattic’s privacy policy: https://automattic.com/privacy/. If users do not want an image associated with their email address to appear in Gravatar’s comments, you should use a non-Gravatar email address for commenting. I would also like to point out that it is also possible to use an anonymous or no e-mail address if users do not wish their own e-mail address to be sent to Gravatar. Users can completely prevent the transfer of data by not using my comment system.

I use standard industry practices, including encryption, passwords, and physical security to protect your personal information. Third parties may attempt to unlawfully intercept or access transmissions or private communications. I do not promise that your personal information or private communications will always remain private. However, I work hard to protect your transmissions and private communications. To that end, this site is protected under an SSL certificate and encrypted under HTTPS.

Occasionally it may take me longer than a month if your request is particularly complex or you have made a number of requests. In this case, I will notify you and keep you updated.

I will not disclose your details to any third party without your prior consent, unless I have to comply with laws or legal proceedings, or to protect the rights, property, or the safety of me or others. I will not sell or rent your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes or otherwise.

I, personally, do not aim to collect your personal data, but lack of resources leads me to have an off-the-shelf WordPress theme and use off-the-shelf cookie functionality. Therefore, the cookies on this site are also generated by Automatic, as stated in their Cookies Policy. You can control cookies in your web browser. Within my WordPress blog, graphical emojis (or smilies), i.e. small graphical files that express feelings, are used that are obtained from external servers. Emojis are used on the basis of my legitimate interests, i.e. interest in an attractive design of my blog.

On my blog are audio files that are stored on the Soundcloud platform offered by SoundCloud Limited, Rheinsberger Str. 76/77, 10115 Berlin, Germany and are played back from this platform. For this purpose, I integrate so-called soundcloud widgets into my website. This is playback software that allows users to play the audio files. Soundcloud can measure which audio files are listened to and to what extent and process this information pseudonymously for statistical and business purposes. Cookies may be stored in the browsers of users and processed for the purpose of creating user profiles, e.g. for the purpose of issuing advertisements that correspond to the potential interests of users. In the case of users who are registered with Soundcloud, Soundcloud can assign the listening information to their profiles. The use is based on my legitimate interests, i.e. interest in a secure and efficient provision, analysis and optimisation of my audio services. Further information and possible objections can be found in Soundcloud’s data protection declaration: https://soundcloud.com/pages/privacy.

Within my online offer, I make no representations or warranties of any kind based on our legitimate interests (i.e. interest in the analysis, optimisation and economic operation of my online offer) content or service offerings of third parties to incorporate their content and services, such as videos or fonts (hereinafter uniformly referred to as “content”). This always presupposes that the third party providers of this content perceive the IP address of the users, since without the IP address they could not send the content to their browser. The IP address is therefore required for the display of this content. I make every effort to use only those contents whose respective providers use the IP address only for the delivery of the contents. Third-party providers may also use so-called pixel tags (invisible graphics, also known as “web beacons”) for statistical or marketing purposes. Pixel tags can be used to evaluate information such as visitor traffic on the pages of this website. The pseudonymous information may also be stored in cookies on the user’s device and may include technical information about the browser and operating system, referring websites, visiting time and other information about the use of our online offer, as well as be linked to such information from other sources.

I can integrate the videos of the platform “Vimeo” of the provider Vimeo Inc, Attention: Legal Department, 555 West 18th Street New York, New York 10011, USA. Privacy policy: https://vimeo.com/privacy. We point out that Vimeo may use Google Analytics and refer to the privacy policy (https://www.google.com/policies/privacy) and opt-out options for Google Analytics (http://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=en) or Google’s settings for data use for marketing purposes (https://adssettings.google.com/.).

I integrate the videos of the platform “YouTube” of the provider Google LLC, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA. Privacy Policy: https://www.google.com/policies/privacy/, Opt-Out: https://adssettings.google.com/authenticated.

I integrate the fonts (“Google Fonts”) of the provider Google LLC, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA. Privacy Policy: https://www.google.com/policies/privacy/, Opt-Out: https://adssettings.google.com/authenticated.

I use Google Analytics to analyse website usage. The resulting data is used to optimize the website. Google Analytics is a web analysis service provided by Google Inc. (1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, United States). Google processes the data for website use on my behalf and is contractually obliged to take measures to ensure the confidentiality of the processed data. During your visit to the website, the following data, among others, is recorded:

Pages called up
Orders incl. turnover and ordered products
The achievement of “website objectives” (e.g. contact requests and newsletter subscriptions)
Your behaviour on the pages (for example clicks, scrolling behaviour and dwell time)
Your approximate location (country and city)
Your IP address (in abbreviated form, so that no clear assignment is possible)
Technical information such as browser, Internet provider, end device and screen resolution
Source of your visit (i.e. via which website or advertising medium you came to us)

This data is transferred to a Google server in the USA. Google complies with the data protection regulations of the “EU-US Privacy Shield” agreement. Google Analytics stores cookies in your web browser for a period of two years since your last visit. These cookies contain a randomly generated user ID with which you can be recognized during future visits to the website. The recorded data is stored together with the randomly generated user ID, which enables the evaluation of pseudonymous user profiles. This user-related data is automatically deleted after 14 months. Other data remains stored in aggregated form for an unlimited period of time. If you do not agree with the collection of this data, you can prevent it by installing the browser add-on to deactivate Google Analytics (https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl).
