The God of Silence, Secrets and Confidentiality

Brilliant!
Thank you, Ashley!
Your epithet “God of Silence” has me thinking the Harpo in Harpocrates alludes to Harpo Marx.
Someone already brought this up in the comments. It could well be that the names are related. I know that some Greeks are named after classical gods even today. So it is a possibility. But I don’t know much about the Marx Brothers. I have seen some of their movies, but that was ages ago.
Oh, wow! The epitome of a successful representation of meditation! Congratulations on your impressive work!
Thanks a lot! I’m glad you like it!
Lots of stuff to keep quite about. Excellent image.

Stilte en rust… iets waar steeds meer mensen behoefte aan hebben.
Inderdaad. In onze hectische wereld is het steeds moeilijker om kalm te blijven.
In sich ruhend. 👍

What separate File from Fire? These two are old friends.🙂
Yes, there could well be a connection. 🙂
keeping the books shut, keeping his eyes shut, silent water over any secrets… what an image I’d never have thought of.
And like the earlier commenter, I am wondering if Harpo Marx might have had any clue that he was sharing a name with a voluntarily mute god? Could harp music in Greek culture have had a use in–or symbolic meaning of–wordless communication?
Thank you for introducing us to so many deities!
Thank you so much for your comment, Kim.
Well, I don’t know if Harpo Marx ever thought about his name. But as many people do just that, I think it is possible.
However, I don’t think that a harp is somehow connected, as the Greek word for harp is ψαλτήριον which would be something like psalterion in English. But a lot of Greek gods still resonate in our time and age. By name, appearance and stories. But I usually try to shine a light on the lesser known gods. some of them have really interesting stories as well and they still have relations to modern living.
Another thought-provoking image rabirius! Love your creativity!
Thank you so much, Denise.
