Straight Lines

In Straight Lines, geometry takes center stage. Horizontal and vertical bands, both natural and man-made, dominate each composition: tree trunks in a dense forest, the rigid structures of buildings, or the ordered chaos of escalators in a shopping mall. At times, these lines obscure parts of the subject; in others, the subject pushes through, breaking their imposed order. People and animals appear adrift in this sea of structure, caught between the wilderness and the built environment — even within the casual backdrop of holiday snapshots. Built from layered photographic composites, each work plays with the tension between order and disruption, turning straight lines into both barriers and integral parts of the image’s story.
